THINGS TO DO AND SEE
Shrewsbury Prison Tour
Walk in the footsteps of prisoners who have been residents of the wings during the last 200 years. Discover what happens behind the high walls and locked doors. Experience the hidden world of capital punishment and see first hand where executions took place.
Shrewsbury Prison is defined by repetition, order and control.
As you explore, the design of the prison becomes clear, long sightlines, stacked landings and rows of cells built to enforce routine and discipline. Prison Entry gives you the time and space to observe how incarceration functioned day after day within a large operational prison.
This is not a reconstructed environment. It is the real structure in which prison life unfolded.
Battlefield Bird of Prey Centre
Battlefield Bird of Prey Centre, formerly Battlefield Falconry Centre, is situated on the beautiful Albrighton Estate and is the only Falconry Centre in Shropshire that is open to the public.
We have nearly 40 birds in our collection and offer a wide range of experiences. Although only small in size, we pride our selves on our unique, bespoke experiences which are educational, interactive, fun and open to all age ranges and abilities. Our staff are always on hand to chat to you about our birds and answer any questions you may have.
Being a small Centre means that we are able to offer you a more personal and hands on experience. We have an education room that often has a craft activity where the young or young at heart can get creative, and it's included in the price of admission.
Boat Tour of River Severn
The popular 45 minute daily boat trips run every day from 10-4pm on the hour. As Sabrina gently sails around the river Severn loop enjoy live commentary, table service and a fully stocked bar serving snacks and hot, cold and alcoholic drinks. Disabled access, onboard toilets and dogs welcome.
Step aboard Sabrina, a modern, triple-deck passenger boat on the River Severn in Shrewsbury. With seating for up to 60 passengers, including a retractable roof and sides on the top deck, Sabrina offers comfort and flexibility for every type of cruise.
We are an independent Shropshire business dedicated to providing a first-class experience for both day and evening passengers. Whether you are seeking a relaxing daytime river trip or an atmospheric evening voyage, our crew ensures a warm welcome and attentive service throughout your journey.

Throughout the seasons, Alderford transforms to celebrate the moments that matter most: Christmas brings twinkling lights, Santa’s Island Experience, and festive gatherings that make the season feel truly magical. In summer, Alderfest fills the lake with music, laughter, and togetherness, becoming a highlight of the year for thousands who join us.

British Ironwork Centre
The Ironworks began as a metal working family business over 50 years ago, rooted in a love for craftsmanship and creativity. Initially, it was focused on the versatility of ironwork, but has grown into something much more profound. As a three-generational business, our journey has been shaped by a deep desire to connect with people, using our medium of art to design and create meaningful stories, and inspire change. Over time, our vision expanded beyond showcasing metalwork to creating a space where art serves a greater purpose—raising awareness, sparking conversations, and driving action around important social and environmental issues. The Ironworks has become not only a great day out for individuals and families, but also somewhere that inspires change. We are also the only sculpture park dedicated to recycling and reusing waste to create our art, with our sculptors working full time on site designing and creating.
